Bob Jensen

Bob Jensen is Senior Managing Director of Strat3. In his current role he advises and consults with national governments as well as major corporations and international aid and development agencies on crisis, emergency and disaster management.

He provided on-the-ground advice and assistance during major crisis events as well as crisis management and crisis communication training to law enforcement agencies in the U.S.

Working with the World Bank, he has advised national governments on risk and crisis management, solidifying disaster risk management institutional frameworks, improving emergency management and developing national public awareness campaigns. Other clients include the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Department of Defense, Emergency Management Victoria and energy and water sector organizations.

While a senior official he ensured U.S. government efforts had the effect and outcomes needed to save lives, maintain public confidence and address complex international situations.  He also provided oversight and input to risk assessments and strategy development for U.S. national security issues including cybersecurity, disasters caused by natural hazards, pandemics, counter-proliferation and counterterrorism.

He served as the Department of Homeland Security’s Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs and was a spokesman for the White House’s National Security Council as well as for the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad.

Bob led the U.S. government’s on the ground crisis communications efforts after the massive earthquake in Haiti, for the Deepwater Horizon oil spill response and 30+ major U.S. disasters including Hurricane Sandy.

Other positions included Acting Director of External Affairs for FEMA, Director of Communication Operations for Iraq and Afghanistan within the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs and Director of News Operations for the Air Force News Agency.

He is a graduate of Air War College, has a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the Ohio State University and is a recipient of the Secretary of Homeland Security’s Gold Distinguished Service Medal.   

Bob speaks at conferences, events and universities in the U.S. and globally.  He is Co-Founder and President of the Emergency Management External Affairs Association, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for Minority Veterans of America, and a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers.
