Karl Ferguson

Karl is an experienced executive director of communications and engagement, with over twenty years in senior communication roles in central government, local government, and NGOs.

He has been involved in many responses to emergencies and crises, including the Christchurch earthquakes, the Rena grounding, and more recently, the COVID-19 pandemic response. He joined the EMPA Board in 2020 and is also the New Zealand conference committee Chair. He leads the revenue and funding strategic workstream on behalf of the EMPA Board.
