Catherine Delore
Catherine has been involved in several major emergency responses during her time in the public service.
She was deployed to Christchurch to help manage all-of-government communications following the 2011 earthquake and was then seconded as establishment media manager for the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority. She was also sent to Kaikoura in 2016 to support all-of-government communications.
During her time as Director of Communications at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet she supported communications coordination for events such as the Christchurch terrorist attack, Whakaari/White Island and the pandemic. Catherine was also sent to Auckland for the January 2023 floods and Hawkes Bay for Cyclone Gabrielle and is currently Chief Communications and Government Services Officer at Health New Zealand and has held other senior communications roles. Before joining the public service, Catherine worked as a journalist for more than 20 years and was Chief Reporter at Radio New Zealand.
She lives in Wellington with her partner Cheryl and their two Jack Russells.
